WARNING – MISLEADING REQUESTS FOR PAYMENT FOR TRADE MARK SERVICES.

CTM applicants and owners are recently receiving an increasing amount of unsolicited mails from companies requesting payment for trade mark services.

If you receive a letter or invoice please check carefully what is being offered to you, and its source. Please note that the Italian Patent and Trademark Office never sends invoices to trademark owners or letters requesting direct payment for services.

Companies and/or register as “Community trade mark filing service”, Liverpool (United Kingdom), “European Trademark organization S.A. Brussels, EU Parliament” Brussels (Belgium), “European trademarks consulting register community trade marks”, London (United Kingdom) are not connected with any official trade mark registration services provided by public bodies in Italy nor in the European Union. They merely offer services in order to add your trademark in its trademarks’ database, with no juridical validity.

ITALIAN TRADEMARKS

UIBM – Ufficio Italiano Brevetti e Marchi, located in Roma, Italy.

COMMUNITY TRADEMARKS

OHIM – Office for the Harmonization in the Internal Market, located in Alicante, Spain.

INTERNATIONAL TRADEMARK

WIPO – World Intellectual Property Organization, located in Geneva, Switzerland.

The above mentioned Trademark Offices NEVER send request for payment of fees.
